About Greg Russell
Greg Russell is a committed and dedicated sales professional. Born and raised in the South Island he has lived in the United Kingdom, Australia, and many provincial New Zealand locations. He now resides permanently in Mt Maunganui. In 1985, Greg started his first real ‘career job’ as a sales representative in the horticulture industry. With company car and employer provided health insurance – life was good! And with the prime responsibility for securing kiwifruit crops for export, Greg enjoyed the challenge. The kiwifruit industry deregulated a few years later and Greg headed for Melbourne. Remaining in the sales and marketing arena he secured employment with a major franchise distributor of sporting goods as their Victoria State representative. After two years across the Tasman and yearning for the ‘green grass of home’ he headed back to New Zealand and began a rewarding ten year tenure with Owens Group in Auckland. Having held various senior sales and marketing positions within the Group, and gaining a postgraduate Diploma in Business (Marketing) at Auckland University along the way, a desire to move away from the corporate environment led him to consider the ‘commission only’ environment of the New Zealand real estate industry. So in 1999, keen to reunite with family now living in Tauranga, and with the lifestyle and beauty of the Bay of Plenty seeming all too irresistible, Greg’s passion for selling real estate and the challenges therein, began. The results of that vision, and the desire to succeed, is a story engraved on various Group and industry trophies. Recognition was first achieved in 2001 when he secured the Eves ‘Rookie of the Year’ award, and later that year ‘The Most Promising New Salesperson’ for the REINZ Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne district. In 2002 he was recognised among the industry’s elite when he gained an Award of Excellence for Outstanding Achievement in Residential Sales – placing him in the top 10, out of more than 2800 sales people. An accolade he has enjoyed each year through to 2005. After only 3 years with Eves Realty he became the ‘Eves Residential Salesperson of the Year’ and retained this title through successive years to 2006 inclusive. In 2004 he secured the ‘ASB Eves Auction Cup’ for outstanding achievements with ‘no price marketing’ of real estate. Awarded every 6 months he kept this accolade through to 2006 – the year Greg finally accepted the opportunity to market real estate with Bayleys Realty Group. His decision to transfer cross Bayleys was not one taken lightly. With the Realty Group owning both the Eves business and the Bayleys franchise for Bay of Plenty and Waikato, he was in a privileged position to observe the brand internally as well externally. In the greater Tauranga region the Bayleys brand operates primarily in the top half of market however in particular it has stamped it’s authority on the upper quartile of market ($500,000 plus properties) while dominating the $800,000 plus bracket. Their primary catch phrase ‘marketing is everything’ is evidenced by their many successes. So with Bayleys in the Bay of Plenty having grown at exponential rates since 2003 under the stewardship of Realty Group majority shareholders - Richard Cashmore and Brian Waldegrave, there came a day when as a successful agent in his own right, he could no longer resist the change in order he progress to a new level of excellence.. Greg’s work ethic is second to none. He believes that only excellence prevails and has demonstrated his willingness again and again to provide nothing less. Being pro-active, forward thinking and with a passion to see his clients’ needs fulfilled, his personal mission statement says it all….. ’committed to success through helping other achieve their real estate goals’.
